The forge lives a complicated situation.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The small artisanal workshops are immersed in facing the same conditions as the large industrial manufacturers.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In recent decades, crafts have been declining, some have been able to group together, they have come together to defend the most traditional forms of production in contrast to the new trends most linked to modern technologies. In our case, the locksmith guild that had represented us until now has been devirtualized, focusing on the production factories leaving aside the small artisan forging workshops. We are a stronghold within the world of steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teaching of blacksmithing is currently complicated by the small workshops that, without any help and having lost both the concept and the figure of the apprentice, have to assume the costs of having an operator who knows to teach everything in a short time and that without having knowledge it must be remunerated as if you had it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The few schools of regulated studies and training in blacksmithing are very basic and when they do open, the sector is so small that it cannot absorb the demand and the desire to continue learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being part of the industrial branch, many workshops have been forced to leave their old premises, often located in inhabited areas in the centers of towns, to move to industrial areas. Being a noisy and dirty job, which manipulates fire and moves heavy and bulky materials like the whole industry has been moved to the outskirts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For these reasons and many other blacksmiths from all over the country we work together to publicize this work. Through the meetings, fairs, demonstrations that take place on our terrace, of which we could highlight the following. Alins Pyrenean Iron Fair. Alpens forge fair, the fair of blacksmiths and iron artisans in Besal\u00fa of which Pol Codina and therefore the March Blacksmith is a part, the metal fair of Campdev\u00e0nol and our neighbors in northern Catalonia, the Rencontre Europ\u00e9enne de Ferronnerie d’Art \u00e0 Arles-sur-Tech. Without leaving aside all the representation of fellow blacksmiths in the medieval fairs and markets that are held everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is in this space where we meet with blacksmiths from different regions of our country and abroad where we share and learn, observe and practice our knowledge and ways of doing things. Masters, aspirants, apprentices, fans and lovers of blacksmithing work together to achieve the goal set by the event but in the end the goal is to teach blacksmithing outside the workshops to raise awareness in society and sensitize the population of the importance of keeping the craft of blacksmithing alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond this involvement in the tovades, Pol Codina with the name Serralleria March is part of the Associaci\u00f3 de forjardors de Catalunya (AFOC) which looks for ways to spread the word and collaborate with the sector to keep the flame of the blacksmiths<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many things have changed in our environment. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The anvils remain firm returning the blows of the hammers, blows which deftly deform the iron at will.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
